What an incredible Serie A season we’ve just enjoyed, the sort we’ll look back on with huge fondness many years from now and it’s certainly one that’s provided us with many enduring memories.
My moment of the Serie A season from the games I covered would have to be Sandro Tonali’s dramatic late winner at The Olimpico for Milan against Lazio at the end of April. It came in the 92nd minute of a brilliant game – just as it looked like Milan were about two drop two significant points in the race for the Scudetto.
As a moment it had everything really – late drama - a pivotal moment in a title race for the ages – the winning goal in a comeback – passionate, raucous celebrations – there was even an assist from Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the only player in the current squad who’d been part of Milan’s last title winning side.
To hear at the end of the season that he was playing at the time without an ACL in his left knee, just added yet another level of ‘wow’, both to that moment and Milan’s against-the-odds title success.
