Gianluca Vialli: 2021's best moment in football

As another year comes to an end the annual reviews of the past twelve months fill our timelines, newspapers and TV screens. It always seems strange viewing football over a calendar year, given most of the top leagues run from summer to spring. That said, I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and write about my favourite moment in football in 2021.

The beautiful game can get to us in all kinds of ways, a football fan travels on the same emotional rollercoaster from season to season. I’ve been lucky over the past year to have taken a few great personal memories from football. The moment I have chosen didn’t involve me, a game I was at, or the team I support. It came at Wembley on the 11th of July, the final of the delayed Euro 2020.
