I was 8 years old when I first saw Alfredo push Salvatore around on his bicycle in Cinema Paradiso. I didn’t understand Italian, I could barely read the subtitles, but the bond between young and old transcended language - I was hooked.
I have now been obsessed with Italian Cinema for nearly 30 years. Today, it feels like we are in a renaissance of Italian film, not since the golden age of Neorealism when Rome was dubbed Hollywood sul Tevere (“Hollywood of the Tiber”), have we seen such an outpouring of so many critically acclaimed films. It is my pleasure to be able to share my recommendations with you as part of Curva e Calcio.
