Our man in the Curva is back with a round up of all the latest stories involving Italy’s various Ultra groups. We keep his identity out of these articles, but his passion and insight shines through.

A stadium without its away end is nothing

Something strange happened a few days before Milan v Fiorentina. There was a bug in the system and so AC Milan fans were able to buy basically every ticket available in the away end. The stadium was already full, but with three thousand more Milanisti, it could have been even better for the home team.

Obviously Fiorentina made a complaint about the situation and on social media a lot of people were furious, especially Inter fans. For them, everything was made to help Milan. But, from nowhere, the Curva Sud stepped up to support their rivals. With a very strong statement, they basically invited the club to refund whoever bought the tickets in the away end and let Fiorentina fans have them:

“The away end must not be touched.

What happened is just another example of how the system has failed during the last few seasons. So, we are here to ask to the club, which has always been close to these matters and to its fans, to be a sort of “spokesperson” and try to change the situation as soon as possible, and to try to find an immediate solution to what just happened with Fiorentina, because, we will always say it, the away end is sacred.

For us it’s just unthinkable to not have the away end full of opposition supporters because a stadium without the rival fans it’s just not right and something that does not represent our way of life.”

After this statement, all the tickets were refunded and nearly 1,500 Fiorentina fans made the trip to support their team at the famous San Siro.
